Tomball ISD was named as a finalist in the 17th Annual H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program in the large school district division. The award was designed to recognize outstanding school districts demonstrating a commitment to student achievement through innovative programs, parent and community involvement, and professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators.
“It is a tremendous honor to be selected as a finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award. This recognition would not be possible without dedicated students, teachers, staff members, and administrators. Nor would it be possible without the strong support of our community,” said Martha Salazar-Zamora, superintendent of schools.
“This distinction comes at a time when we are focused on new initiatives that enhance curriculum for our students as well as professional development for teachers and administrators. We look forward to highlighting the outstanding initiatives taking place in our schools when the H-E-B selection team visits Tomball ISD later in the spring.”
H-E-B will announce the winner at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony on May 6. If selected, Tomball ISD would be eligible to receive $100,000.
H-E-B launched the Excellence in Education Awards program in cooperation with the Texas Association of School Administrators in 2002 as a positive way to honor outstanding public school professionals and support public education in Texas. It has become the largest monetary program for educators in the state, highlighting best practices and celebrating the passion and creativity of Texas educators.
